How to Search for a Home with Today’s Low Housing Inventory?

A buyer client I’m working with right now has been looking for a home to purchase for the better part of nine months now. We’ve looked at everything that looked like it might be a good fit within her ideal areas – Del Ray and Old Town Alexandria. Due to a number of circumstances – most notably low inventory – it has become clear that we need more aggressive when it comes to finding her a home. Having so little housing inventory on the market, lender-required appraisals and buyers waiting with batied breath for interest rates to drop are the primary reasons that housing price appreciation hasn’t skyrocketed these past two years.

With that said, if you’re looking for a home and can’t find the right place listed for sale, what can you do? There’s no single right answer, but one option is reaching out to homeowners who are statistically more likely to sell than most. That’s the approach I’m taking.
